Home Remedies For
Asthma

TIP: Medication used to treat high blood pressure can cause life threatening complication in people with asthma. Both blood pressure and asthma can be treated with home remedies.

Asthma is a very common respiratory disease, it affects the trachea and bronchial tubes by becoming inflamed and plugged with mucus. This causes the airways to narrow, restricting the amount of air going to the lungs, and makes it very difficult to breathe. Asthma can occur in anyone but is very common in children and young adults. Typical symptoms of an asthma attack are coughing, wheezing, tight chest, difficulty breathing. Home remedies for asthma can help breathing.

There are 2 types of asthma, allergic asthma and non allergic asthma.  Some of the allergens that can trigger an asthma attack are: chemicals, drugs, smoke, dust, food additives, pollution, mold, etc. Non allergic asthma can be cause by anxiety, exercise, dry or humid weather, fear, laughing, stress etc. Home remedies for asthma can help these conditions as well.

The rate, in which asthma attacks have increase in the pass few years is alarming, specially in children. Scientists believe that, there is a strong link between contamination in the air we breath and asthma, evidence suggest that the percentage of people who live in big cities, and have asthma attacks is far greater, than those of people who live in rural areas. However, this may not be the only reason, it is believed that genetic, food additives, toxins etc. could also contribute to asthma attacks.

Modern medicine can offer very little to children with asthma, most drugs can only produce a temporary effect. Herbs in the other hand can be very helpful,  not only reducing attacks but also strengthening the lungs and immune system. You'll learn to treat this disease with many combinations of herbs such as mullein , elecampane and more.

asthma
My daughter has been diagnosed with reactionary asthma.
we have had some episodes in the past that have been somewhat frightening, where I have literaly sat up through the night listening to be sure she continues to breathe. The first accoured on the big island of Hawaii, after we had visited the lava flow, which gives off a very toxic fume the islanders call VOG. My daughter spent the rest of that long night fighting for every breath, but was nearly recovered the next day.
The next experience we had was after a day in a typical apple orchard in Quebec, wich was innondated with pesticide dust, the same thing as the above described eppisode occured in this instance, only the duration was longer. Now, for the last four weeks she has had this yucky congestion which augmented into another eppisode of overnight battle for breath. No fever.
Aside from these attacks, she has trouble running, laughing, and/or swimming too long, which are all more difficult in humid conditions.
I have completely avoided medical treatment, using such remedies as osha, yerba mansa, mullien, and some homiopathics, which have been extremely benificial for us, but in the case that an unpredicted attack comes on, I feel utterly helpless, any advise ?

Asthma
I'm experiencing my worst asthma attack since i was diagnosed in 2004.
This time the wheezing and shortness of breath has lasted for almost a week now.
I used to have a ventolin pump but am now using an Oxis turbuhaler. This has worked wonders for the past two years..until last week.

I also had a difficult time getting over colds and the flu for about two months on and off.
This latest asthma attack occured right after i finally shook off a bad cold.

Need some advice on remedies other than medical.

Albuterol inhalers are a literal LIFESAVER when it comes to dealing with acute asthma of any form. Talk to your doctor, as you need a prescription, but they take care of the problem immediately, and very effectively. I have been using one since i was five, approximately 16 years, and there are no side effects if used properly.

inhaler, nebulizer & steriods
my son is 8 and was diagnosed with asthma when he was 3! he has cough variant asthma which is a type of asthma where the main symptom is a dry, non -productive cough. Easy to deal with right? WRONG!! He coughs until he can't catch a breath...veins are popping out of his face & throat! the BEST thing that works for him is his nebulizer. Although the inhaler serves the same purpose, somehow it doesn't impact him quite the way the nebulizer does. I guess since it's a liquid solution used with a mask he gets the whole dosage...it calms his cough completely. but once we're at the point where the nebs or the inhaler are not working...we're off to the hospital for prelone, predinisolone (sp?), orapred, etc. I don't like him taking them & the doctors will sometime refuse them because of the long term side effects but over a few days, he back to his normal self and regime! i don't have asthma but i know that this disease if very frustrating...so good luck & much blessings to you all!

I am a 12 year-old girl and I was diagnosed with asthma when I was about 6 or 7 years old. The doctors thought that it was mostly exercise induced asthma but as I began to do more activities, I found that it was hard to breathe just sitting outside with my mom. I then found that after many hospital visits I also had an asthma that reacted when anyone smoked. I would get really sick and couldn't breathe. I found that my asthma is triggered by nerves, stress, allergies, exercise, and if I got upset. I know now how to treat my asthma and know the signs so I can tell my mom about any strange symptoms to see if I would need to go to the hospital or not. Thank you and I hope that everyone else has a pretty good future with coping with asthma. GOD BLESS YOU!!!!!

what i know
Omg I could write a novel on all that I've tried and learned about asthma. I had it as a child severly and now have it mildly as an adult. My son however, was diagnosed when he was 2 and now is 13. After much prednisone and a collapsed lung where we had a 4 day stay in ICU at Arkansas Childrens Hospital, I finally have this stuff under control. I didn't want him on any oral steroids (read about them, they are terrible for your body). Instead, put him on magnesium, respirall, aloe vera, vitamin C, astragalus and grape seed. Have seen a tremendous difference. He is back playing sports and other than the occasional xoponex, he is great! To the mom who won't seek conventional treatment, I have one thing to say. BE CAREFUL!!! I tried that for a long time (cleared by his doctor) and his lung collapsed. You don't want to be in this situation!!!! But, you can put a treatment regimen together that works and is natural. Just know that occasionally you need help from conventional means. God wants us to use our heads not refute help all together. Hope this helps someone. Email me if you need to know anything further about how we did this! sherena5573@aol.com

Asthma Remidies that really work guaranteed!!!
Hi if you are reading this right now i assume you are suffering from asthma in fact i am suffering from asthma at this very moment and have been everyday now since i was born. I have tried everything and i will come straight out and admit that The albuterol Inhalor is the best remidy for asthma however what if you run out of your inhalor and are suffering from severe asthma??? well i have some tips
1. Stay still and try not to get your asthma worked up
2. take a hot shower and the steam will help soothe you or put your head in the freezer if cold air helps soothe you more.
3. this is a remedy i found relief with and still do use dandruff shampoo as a body wash i promise this works it has to be a special kind though its called head and shoulders Pyrithione zinc dandruff shampoo and it should state that it has a cooling sensation on the bottle it says refresh as the caption and it has green on it i promise you this will give you relief with hot water and steam from the shower.
4. if you are unable to get a inhalor for asthma there is a over the counter one that many people do not know about its called primatene mist and it is 20 bucks and works great it will deffinetly get you buy untill you retrieve an inhalor1 it was actually the first asthma inhalor invented before albuterol sulfate and it works great but do not overdose it can be harmful. it will stop weeezing and open up airways just as well as an inhalor but it does burn your throat when used so beware but its totally normal and works greatt!!
5. drink coffee or tea anything hot opens up airways
6. get a stong peppermint mint or gum from the store and that will help open airways mints work the best as long as they are peppermint and intensly stong.
7. carbonation may help like a soda
8. last but not least have your doctor get u a breathing treatment they work the best and treat asthma for up to six hours and they are great in case of an attack!
9. steer away from milk products and cold drinks they seem to close up airways.

GOOD LUCKKK I AM GOING TO GO TAKE A SHOWER WITH DANDRUFF SHAMPOO AND THEN TAKE MY PRIMATENE MIST INHALOR AND TOMMOROW I WILL GET MY ALBUTEROL INHALOR FROM THE DOCTOR

I've been suffering from Asthma for almost 30 years now and thankfully with the Singulair I've got it under some semblance control. At my least controlled times, I would burn through an albuterol inhaler in two weeks time in addition to using a nebulizer on a daily basis. For the attacks that would normally send me to the emergency room, I found that the combination of a pot of hot coffee (hot liquid, caffeine), a closed off bathroom with the shower running hot water (steam), my nebulizer (they do a better job delivering the medication) and a book (to help me relax) would eventually help me stave off the attack. This is just me reflecting, don't try this at home, if you feel you are in an attack you can't get relief from, get to the hospital asap!

Never ever spurn your doctor's advice, it's takes time, but with perseverance, you will find a combination of natural means and western medication that will help you live a 'closer to normal' life. And always be honest with your doctor, if something isn't working, make sure they know. If they ask you how many times you 'rescue', be honest. They can't treat you properly without accurate information. Lastly, buy a peak flow meter to track your lung function. It's handy to be able to quantify those wonderful 'I'm feeling pretty good' days with a number and the 'Something feels off' days. Good luck!

asthma story
i am 19 and was born with chronic asthma. ive had a number of near death experiences with asthma and have used many different techniques and remedies over the years. i have found that any hot liquid can open your airways. once i was camping and left my inhaler in the canoe. i woke up late at night gasping for air and panicking because i couldnt find it. a friend managed to calm me down long enough to start a fire and warm up some soup..which worked Amazingly well! the next morning i found my inhaler and had to thank my friend for basically saving my life. i have no medical insurance right now and cant afford a single inhaler ($90) or single pack of inhalation soloution ($170)i pretty much rely on teas soups hot showers and small things like halls vitimin c(to calm acute late night weezing) and fabreeze(to keep my room and bedding fresh) i pretty much live by these remedies but wont hesitate to go to the E.R. if i need to..(which sucks-no insurance!) i am a very spiritual person and even if i had no medicine. no remedies i would still pray for my breathe to return to me. because i know that panicking and doubt and fear only worsens asthma attacks! know that! if you ever get into a dire situation stay calm! try and regualate your breathing as much as you can. alert someone. get ahold of any warm liquid. if you havent gained any controll over it or cant breathe comfortably then get to the E.R.

question about asthma
I'm from the Philippines, i had my asthma since I was a kid. but the attack stop when i was 7 yrs. old. I'm now at my 30's, they say asthma is incurable, true enough because mine came back a couple of years ago. I thought it was over but it wasn't. My question is why am I having attacks on the wee hours of the morning? When I wake at around 3 am to 4 am in the morning to go to the bathroom it triggers. I can't find any explanation with that. I go to bed OK then suddenly at those times it attacks. I'm taking Salbutamol 2mg tablets everytime my asthma triggers. Hope you can find time to answer my question. thank you.

Alternative Treatment for Asthma
My 8 year old son has had allergy related asthma for 4 years and has since been on various medication. He's currently taking Singulair, Flovent, Claritin, and Albuterol when the asthma flares up. We live in Southern California.
It looks like he's getting a lot of side effects (behavior/sleep) from those medications and I want to try an alternative treatment.
I don't know where to start and I need advice from parents who had the same issue.
Thank you for emailing me.

What causes asthma and how do I stop it?
I am 31 yrs old and moved into a house bulit in 1955 in Connecticut about 1 1/2 yrs ago with alot of woods around. Just about 2 months ago I started waking up wheezing every night. I had the house air checked for mold when we moved in and found that there is mold but not dangerous mold in the air. The gentleman said that I should not open the windows becuase this brings the mold from the outside in. We do not have central ac so we have the window units and my husband insists on leaving the ceiling fan on. I had light wheezing when I ran track as a teenager but never needed an inhaler. But these night wheezing issues have me considering one but I have a slight blood regergitation from a vavle in my heart and the cardiologist said to stay away from steriods. Doesn't elbuterol have steriods? Could the night time attack be triggered from some kind of gas that comes out of the ground at night when it gets cold? I really feel like there has to be some enviornmental factore that is causing this reaction and I would like some guidance.

"Dear Charles,

Thank you for taking the time to put all of the wonderful home remedies recipes and information into a book!

It is a great resource for me as a great grandmother that cares for a 4 year old granddaughter and a 3 year old great granddaughter during the daytime while their parents work.

Dear Charles:
I just got your Home remedies e-book and I must say it's so easy to navigate, the amount of information is overwhelming and it's written in plain English without any Latin names or technical jargon.

I can't wait until I make my own body lotion and moisturizing cream.

P.S. I love the tips, secrets and shocking statistics and information you give throughout the book.

Hi Charles;

I don't usually write recommendation letters, but I felt that I should congratulate you for your work on the Home Remedies e-book. I have very sensitive skin and when I shave my legs I get a very annoying itch and irritation that last for days.

I tried many creams but they burn my skin and make my irritation worst, After I got your e-book I decided to make your recipe for body cream. The results were unbelievable it goes on smoothly, with no burning sensation, and no irritation, it brings back a silky moist feel that I've never experienced before with any other cream and it last all day without having to re-apply several times.

The amount I have made cost me a few cents and it will last me for about six or seven months.

Thank you for solving my problem with a great product

On your site wild yam root is recommended for morning sickness. I have had a terrible time with morning sickness and had become quite miserable, isolated and depressed that I could not move without feeling like I was going to vomit. I tried the wild yam tincture and I feel so much better! Thank you very much!

Thank you again for the recommendations on morning sickness!
